AA Yeşilhat: Data-driven farming model cuts input use
In a video report published on Anadolu Agency’s Yeşilhat platform, a new-generation contract farming model that brings together technology, artificial intelligence and financing tools in agriculture is shown to cut farmers’ costs while contributing positively to yield and profitability.
As rapid urbanisation worldwide puts ever greater pressure on farmland, using shrinking agricultural areas more productively has become critical for food security. Solutions that bring producers, suppliers and consumers together within a single ecosystem help high-quality, nutrient-rich produce reach the table sustainably.
“We cut pesticide use by 70 percent and fertiliser by 50 percent”
Kamil Kılıç, General Manager of Letven Capital and Chairman of Qfarmii, told the AA correspondent that they had developed a model making contract farming more transparent, predictable and scalable. Pointing out that they had produced a solution enabling farmers to take part in the agriculture of the future, Kılıç said: “Qfarmii is a platform that lets farmers produce more profitably by using technology and finance in the right place.”
Explaining that the model — which makes risks visible early — is built on transparent contracts, a fair pricing policy and data-driven field management, Kılıç drew attention to how robotic systems and artificial intelligence raise productivity by directing labour towards more efficient areas: “We are offering farmers a model in which technology and finance are used correctly, the farmer carries lower costs when spraying, the soil becomes healthier at the same time, yield rises with fertilisation, and the produce then turns into a higher value-added, more profitable product through quality.”
Sales are planned before production begins
Kılıç said that sales planning is carried out before production starts and that technology, seed and seedling choices are shaped according to buyers’ expectations, turning agriculture into a multi-actor innovation process managed end to end.
A target of one million decares in five years
Underlining that competitiveness and success in agricultural production depend on customised, crop-focused technologies, Kılıç said: “In concrete terms we achieved 70 percent less pesticide and 50 percent less fertiliser use, though this varies from crop to crop. I am speaking in general terms. The model also raises yield by between 15 and 20 percent.” He added that they aim to extend the model — currently applied across 6,000 decares in Türkiye — to one million decares within five years.
